    When you’re grinding whole beans it turns out decaf can be a little different than what you’re used to. It took me an entire bag before I realized what I was doing wrong and got my first nice cup. For reference my setup is an Aeropress and a 1Zpresso JX-Pro hand grinder. In my case to get the best of the beans the key was grinding larger than usual (30 ticks on my grinder) and using more coffee (about 1.5 to 2 times than usual). Before it would come out weak on flavor but extremely sour, but today I managed to get out of it something that reminded me fruit, apples mostly, with a walnut aftertaste. It had just a hint of tartness, but otherwise it came out mild and sweet. It’s different, so you just have to play with it a little.
